Mobile web is not just the future! It is the PRESENT that we all cannot ignore!
Yes! We all know that most of the visitors reach our website through mobile, tablets or laptops. The fact the Google Analytics has a view where you can bifurcate users based on the device they use is itself a proof showing that the number of mobile users is increasing and we cannot ignore them.
Faster loading websites are loved! Not only on desktops – but mobile too!?
AMP (Accelerated Mobile Pages) is an assuring way to make your web pages load faster on the mobile. And now it is time to give wings to your web pages with the fastest and most loved WordPress theme – Astra!
Google initiated AMP as an open-source project for the betterment of the future web on mobile devices. AMP restricts JS and CSS to be loaded on smaller devices resulting in faster loading of the pages.
With these restrictions, advanced design and features on the page get compromised sometimes. But you don’t have to worry because – Astra Stands With You! Your favourite WordPress theme now offers Native AMP support! The Astra-AMP native integration tries to retain the initial design of the page up to a certain extent. This makes sure that your AMP pages look very much similar to the original Non-AMP pages.
That’s not all! Astra helps you to achieve the standards set by AMP so that your web pages are counted notably in Google’s mobile search results.
Magnificent! Right?
Speed is our priority! And everything has a better way to be done. We are constantly working on Astra and striving to cope up with the speed and improvising it even further. We care about your website’s performance as much as you do. We will be bringing more updates with AMP in the future.
You can enable AMP on your website with a plugin and use it with Astra theme for faster and beautiful mobile pages. Visit our knowledge base to know more about native AMP support and how it works well with Astra. In case you need any help drop us a mail.
Just update Astra and Astra Pro to the latest version and get ready to boost up your web pages. We wish you all the speed and success ?

Is it same like Wordpress dot com having AMP plugin by Automattic? I am updating now, let me check how it works.
One suggestion – Tags in Astra shows at the top of the post. It would be better if you can provide an option to display tags after content like other themes because that will give a feeling to the visitor to click on related texts. At the top, just below the Title nobody will click on tags.
Woot! Get to drop an AMP plugin from my installs. Thanks team, you rock!
AMP plugin will still be required to enable AMP support.
Impressive and unique new feature, awesome!
I have used Astra on more than 100+ websites for my clients as well as for me. Thanks to the team for keeping Astra always on top. Awe-inspiring and unique!
Does this mean sites using Astra will automatically have pages served as AMP on mobile? Or do you still need to have an AMP plugin?
AMP plugin will still be required. Astra adds Native AMP compatibility from this update, i.e. Your Astra layout will work in AMP mode without any issues.
Thats awesome guys!
Please tell me where to buy the theme ? Is it available on theme forest ?
Astra Theme is free and you can download it directly by searching for the theme in your WordPress dashboard.
Astra also comes with a Pro addon plugin which adds more customization options which can be purchased from here.
Hello,
When do you think we will see lazy loading images? It looks to be a big push for Google.
This will very soon land in Google Chrome and other browsers as a native feature – https://addyosmani.com/blog/lazy-loading/
Where can I see the demo of this AMP ready WP theme? Thank you in advance
Only sets AMP plugin that works well with astra? I particularly prefer to use AMP for WP – Accelerated Mobile Pages, does it also work well with Astra or is it really better to use what you recommend?
We only support The official AMP plugin. The AMP for WP plugin does not really require support as that plugin provides AMP options related to the templates that it provides.
Are any of your ready sites AMP compatible? Maybe only Gutenberg sites or just a few, or none yet?
Hello,
We have not tested all the sites with AMP, I did a quick test and a few Gutenberg sites do support Native AMP mode out of the box.
With other sites the main reason for incompatibility is related to page CSS is over AMP’s required CSS limit of 50KB, You can achieve this on your site if it is possible for you to reduce a few blocks on your pages as that will basically reduce the final CSS of the page.
I am thinking of changing my Website to Astra, mainly because of the AMP. Are all options AMP compatible? I would want the Pro Version to use Fixed Header for example.
Thank you, your work looks awesome!
Hi, Not all options work with AMP due to the requirements of AMP. We have created a doc for which features do not work with AMP.
Hi guys,
I am adding AMP in my Astra website.
I just saw that the tutorial you have shows different images.
I think because you use another plugin different from mine.
Is it ok, to use any AMP plugin? Or the theme is otimized to one plugin in particular?
I use AMP for WP – Accelerated Mobile Pages for WordPress by Ahmed Kaludi, Mohammed Kaludi.
Hi Rui,
Astra is compatible with official AMP plugin. Other AMP plugins sometimes provide extra customization options with their own templates for AMP. This might override the theme’s templates. So Astra might not work with other AMP plugins.
Hi there,
I just took out the AMP Plugin that I was using, to use the one you recommend.
The funny thing, is that I am getting a lot of errors now, and before I didn’t had any.
I’m a little confused. Is Native AMP support available in the free version of Astra? You say that it available in this post and but you say Addon is required in documents section. Could you make a clear statement? I want to know before I switch my website to Astra.
Hello Kaan,
Thanks for reporting.
We have updated the documents. You can use AMP with the free version of Astra without any issue. Do refer to all the articles here for further clarification. 🙂
It looked very nice.. thank you for sharing this information
You’re welcome! 🙂
Still we need to use AMP plugin? or we need to remove plugin for AMP? I use AMP for WP. Please clarify.
Hi Divyanka,
Astra works with the official AMP plugin. And yes, you will need to install and activate this plugin to use Astra-AMP feature.
How can i add custom code to the amp theme?
I want to implement amp-app-banners. https://amp.dev/documentation/components/amp-app-banner/
Hello Jonas,
The feature you are looking for seems to be related to the mobile application and AMP.
There’s nothing here which the Astra theme can handle.
Hi there!
Is there any changes in the recommended setup after the huge update of AMP plugin to v2.0?
Hello Fernando,
No, there won’t be any changes required with the latest AMP update of 2.0.
Please feel free to get in touch with us directly in case you have any further questions for us.
Hi,
What’s the best AMP plugin for Astra and Elementor?
Hello Art Lo,
As we recommend in the above article’s conclusion which explains in details our AMP support in the theme with the AMP – WordPress plugin.
Even after installing AMP on my website when I check AMP on google it shows not an AMP page not end AMP page but why?
Sorry, Astra is no longer AMP ready. We have discontinued support for AMP in line with Google’s shift in focus to Core Web Vitals. They have decided to prioritize Core Web Vitals over AMP to ensure that websites built with the Astra theme meet the latest industry standards and provide an exceptional user experience.
